Few questions to the supporters of koodankulam

1. We have studied from our young age that nuclear radiation is harmful to body and it can cause cancer too. Still which is making to accept it as beneficial ?

2. I agree few countries in the world are using this technology. But do you know Japan adopted this long back and now have decided to close down the reactors and in search of alternate power source ? Why should we chose which is outdated ?

3. You could remember the disaster happened in Fukushima last year. If such thing happens here, Do you trust India and its government will be able to handle it ?

4. This project have been proposed in other states and due to the protest it is moved here. If it is so much safety, why this should happen ?

5. How much fear we get when a small transformer near our home gets burst.. Now could you imagine the level of danger for the ppl over there ? Ppl who says it is safety.. are they ready to stay nearby ?

6. Whenever there is a power crisis in Tamilnadu, Ppl starts to point the koodankulam protestors that they are the reason for it. But are you able to realise that whenever the protest against nuclear plant gets intense the power crisis rises up ? It is the cheapest activity of the government to suppress the revolt.

I know how many ppl and small scale industries suffer becoz of this power cut ( even our business ). But we all fight for our NEED but the koodankulam ppl are fighting for their LIFE !! There is a difference between the both.

Priya Darshini Totally agree.. As because issue bring up now & not when its planned it doesnt mean the people can suffer.. But , why it wasnt raised earlier and why now? every invention of science gives us better living & comfort as well as destructive.. yea , the measure is different in this case. But WHY NOW? where we got the wisdom all of sudden.. What was happening when it was build up for nearly 10 years.. Did the ppl think ,never that project gonna implement.. Shouldnt we think of other side of it? Are we being so emotional & scary about our lifes thinking something may happen & do we all know the percentage of its failure /disaster to prove this has to be abandoned!! I feel there are lot more to think in both aspects. Til then, koodankulam is a mystery!! atleast , for me.

Aditya Ranjan ther is a lot of difference in t way we see things...u knw abt japan....today its one of t most developed nations in t world (actually it has a -ve growth rate nw)..if it would nt hav supported nuclear power then it wouldnt hav reached to tis level (cos power forms one of t backbones of the industrialization system)...fyi..japan did shut down all its plants after t fukushima incident but after a week it realized it cant survive (too much import of resources n couldnt bear the excess problems)..it switched on all its nuclear power back.. u see wit t kind of safety systems in place in nuclear reactors..u can build one in a few mts only t reactor..but it takes years to finish cos of all t safety systems n also safety checks...n if ther is a diaster u got to learn it n improve on..japan never expected a tsunami n an earthquake at t same time....n also ther wer lapses in ther safety protocols (they used the GE system but didnt not adhere to it completely )..

Nazar: Aditya Ranjan nuke power is neither economical nor safe... according to indian state policy, nuke is not for power.. its for nuke bombs.. though Japan's policy is only 'peace nukes', its reaping now for its actions... however, japan has benefited earlier, now it shud spend 2 billion dollars (remember the compensation for Indian ppl frm Russia, according to the govt agreement in case of a nuke accident, is just 1500 crores) and shud abandon the 30 km radius of the site completely for the nxt 30 years... this is going to be a major burden on japan's economy for sure.. can India handle such an economic burden ???! Arunmozhi even take the case after sep,2011 da.. ppl community of an entire village went into hunger strike and other non-violent form of protests for more than 400 days !! the longest continuous non-violent form of protest in the world history...! but did anyone care in the ruling class? did the truth reach the common ppl ?? media were not covering the actual struggle taking place and some like dinamalar, sun news, etc kept on propagating false news among masses !first they claimed that they got foreign funds (even PM said it), funded by US and roman catholic church, then they claimed them to be naxalites and maoists... then the ppl were claimed to be mentally disturbed and recommended treatment from NIMHANS by PMO !! 50,000 cases were filed against ppl in a record short period of time in a record single police station.. 8,000 cases under sedition and war against nation charges.. 2000 cases filed on children below 16 yrs of age !!!

Did anything stop in this one year ?? the process was going on even though ppl are protesting and cases have been filed in court... meanwhile, a minister from PMO will occasionally come and declare opening the plant in next 15 days.. and he made this statement for more than 6 months !!

Uranium loading was going to be initiated and lack of address for their queries from all sectors of this democratic country, whose prime role is to addres ppl, made them to move towards the nuke plant.. but they were stopped in the shoreline and those ppl didnt go back and stayed in the chilling shoreline for the entire night ! tat non-violent protest was also brutually attacked by police forces which was the talk of the town b4 10 days.. a fisherman, Anthony john, was shot dead by tamil nadu police ! air force planes were flying above ppl protesting in sea and another resident, Sagayam, was killed in tat atrocity !

these things happened in this one year... but still koodankulam plant activities have not been stopped by the central govt. Does this mean nothing happened in this one year...???

majority of ppl hav not even raised a concern for all these atrocities on protesting ppl which happened in this one year.. how cud one conclude the intensity of struggle as inefficient or lack of struggle all these years whose struggle history spans since the date of signing agreement btwn India and Russia in 1988, for the last 25 years ???

Myself: Thanks to Nazar for sharing valuable info ! And to Priya Darshini i add few more quest.. 1. Assume u purchase a medicine for 1 lakh rupees.. later if u find that contains toxic substance, u still desire to take it ?? Same case applies here. 2. The revolt get intense very recently.. i accept.. but who is around koodankulam.. poor fishery ppl.. how to expect them to get knowledge befor 10 yrs ( at tat time we dont even kno the meaning of tsunami ) 3. We kno well radiation affects future generation too.. Its not the ppl over there are just fear abt their life alone !!
